EALING Citizens, a chapter of community group Citizens UK, will gather on the steps of Ealing Town Hall next Tuesday to mark housing guarantees made by council leader, Julian Bell before the borough elections.
Cllr Bell made the pledges at the group’s pre-election housing assembly, which called for more genuinely affordable housing in the borough. It also voiced concerns about rogue landlords.
Ealing Citizens will gather with balloons and people dressed as key workers to welcome newly-elected councillors and ask the leader to reaffirm his commitments.
Fr Justin Dodd, of St Barnabas Church, Pitshanger said: “One of the benefits of being a non-political, broad-based network of community leaders means we listen to what all corners of our neighbourhoods tell us they need and expect from their elected representatives.

“We ran a listening campaign in Ealing and found housing - the lack of genuinely affordable homes and difficulties for tenants in the private rented sector - came up again and again as issues.”
Jackie Ashmenall, of Christ the Saviour Church, Ealing Broadway, said: “At our housing assembly, Cllr Bell listened and responded positively to all our asks.
"We want to thank him for that and keep working with Ealing Council to make sure they put their pledges into action.”
