A TOTAL of 66 Scouts from across West Middlesex came together to receive Jack Petchey Foundation Achievement Awards at Greenford Assembly Hall on Wednesday.

Winners aged 11-25 received medallions to go with their framed certificate and a cheque for £250 each, already presented. They were nominated by their peers and leaders.

Scouts in the Greater London Middlesex West area have received £410,176 from the Foundation since funding started in 2003.

Alejandra Branley, 13, is a member of 1st Ealing North Scouts. Since joining, she has been awarded almost 30 badges for the activities in which she has taken part.

She has also been responsible for encouraging younger Scouts to work hard towards their badges.

She put her £250 grant towards the costs of a trip to America for her and fellow Scouts.

Lily Thompson, 15, is a member of the 6th Hillingdon Scouts and has been with the group since joining as a Beaver.

Lily has been a great help to the group’s leaders, often offering to help with activities and look after younger members.

She decided to spend her £250 grant on a trip for her and fellow Scouts to Thorpe Park.
