BRENTFORD boss Dean Smith is targeting a swift comeback from last weekend’s defeat to Hull City as his side prepare to take on Barnsley on Saturday.

The Bees led at the KCOM last weekend but eventually succumbed to a 3-2 defeat despite John Egan’s late effort.

Smith angry following Hull defeat

Smith’s men currently lie 13th in the Championship table having had a mixed season, but the man at the helm believes that the team’s bouncebackability can be found once again.

"We want to put last week to bed straight away,” said Smith. “We have been very good this season at coming back from poor performances and results and we have to go and do that again.

“The focus has been on getting our attitude and application right - we didn’t play well in the second half against Hull City.

“We looked less cohesive than we have done this season and we have tried to put that right.

Smith looking for more goals

“That was the disappointing part of the game on Saturday because it is a game that we felt we should have won, especially after we took the lead.”

Smith also provided a positive update on the injury front, and believes that playing at Griffin Park this weekend will prove decisive.

“Lasse Vibe trained with us on Thursday,” Smith added. “We will have a chat with him later on to decide whether he can start or be on the bench but we don’t know if it is too early for him or not. Other than that it is as was for Hull City.

"It is great being back at home, our home form has been strong we feel. We have probably drawn too many games at home but we are on a decent run in recent weeks.

"The goals are coming from all areas as well. They aren’t just coming from the centre-forwards which is something that we work on.”
