Jonny May returns for Leicester’s attempt at rescuing their Champions Cup group campaign against the Scarlets on Friday night.
May sustained a shoulder injury against East Midlands rivals Northampton a fortnight ago to raise concerns that he could be sidelined for England’s autumn series next month.
But he is restored to the right wing having missed just one match and is joined in the starting XV by lock Will Skinner, who has completed his controversial four-week ban for a dangerous tackle.
Leicester opened Pool 4 with a 24-10 defeat by Ulster and know that another defeat would deal a mortal blow to their hopes of advancing to the knockout phase.
The Scarlets also fell on the opening weekend, losing 14-13 to Racing 92, and interim coach Geordan Murphy wants the Welsh region to experience the type of reception his players received in Belfast.
“The atmosphere in Ulster was certainly intimidating,” Leicester’s interim-coach said
“It was very difficult for everyone and we couldn’t hear ourselves very well. To have the flip side of that at Welford Road would be amazing.”
Northampton are looking to revive their own European quest when they travel to the Dragons with aim of atoning for their 41-20 Challenge Cup rout by Clermont.
