Brentford manager Thomas Frank has emphasised the importance of bringing home three points as his team heads to Norwich City in their biggest Premier League fixture to date.

The Bees will arrive at Carrow Road in the midst of a run of form that has seen them lose seven of their last eight, as well their last five consecutive away games.

A 2-0 defeat at the Brentford Community Stadium against Newcastle United last Saturday afternoon leaves them just three points clear of Burnley who occupy the final relegation spot. Sean Dyche’s team also have two games in hand.

When asked if he is feeling the pressure given the recent below-par form, Frank said: "No. It was way worse when I first took over.

"But I am not stupid. I’m not blind. I am aware that we need a win."

Despite the obvious need for a result, the Danish manager remained in good spirits and stated that his team were coming in off the back of a strong week on the training ground.

He added: "we’ve had a good week; we are preparing to try to play to our strengths and explore some of Norwich’s weaknesses.

"We played 11 v 11, three times for 20 minutes on Tuesday, with different players, formations, and focus areas."

He also confirmed that Brentford will have a close to a full squad available for selection, with the only absentee being midfielder Josh Dasilva, serving the first of a three-match suspension after his red card against a resurgent Newcastle.

In what is also a huge game for Norwich City, another club fighting for their lives, Bees boss Frank acknowledged that it will not be an easy task.

"This is a game where Norwich will come with everything," he added. "They will be very aggressive."

"I am aware that we are in a similar situation and a point, or win, would be big for both teams.

"There will be a lot at stake but the more you can play it as only a game will be good."

Brentford’s last league success came over two months ago, a 2-1 win on January 2 against Aston Villa.

At that point they were a seemingly comfortable 12 points above the drop zone.

However, their turbulent eight-game run has seen them plummet down the table and they are now firmly in a scrap for top-flight survival.

Opponents on Saturday Norwich are equally in desperate need of a win as they sit rock bottom of the Premier League, five points adrift of safety.
