Lennox Anyanwu admitted that he is fuelled by revenge ahead of Harlequins’ Premiership clash against Saracens next weekend.

Anyanwu crossed the whitewash to help his side to a late 40-31 victory over Newcastle Falcons at Kingston Park in their opening game of the season yesterday.

But the 21-year-old confessed that he is now laser focused on next weekend as the home side seek to overturn last season's 34-17 semi-final loss to Mark McCall's team.

He said: "We're really excited, it's back at the Stoop in front of our fans and I think it's packed out as well.

"It's ultimately Sarries who got to the final and beat us in the semis, so we want to be the best and to be the best you've got to beat the best.

"So that's our focus, to go home next week and beat them."

Anyanwu scored in the 53rd minute against Falcons, crossing the line and helping tip the game in Quins’ favour.

The centre was quickest to a loose ball down the right-hand side and extended Harlequins’ lead to 11 points.

Talking on his try, he said: "They kept the ball back, I thought I had messed up quite badly but I was lucky that Tyrone [Green] was there so I passed the ball to him.

"And Tyrone and Nick [David] they did their magic and had got up to halfway and then luckily Tommy [Allan] saw me, passed the ball and I saw some space and got the bounce.

"The biggest thing, and quite a few of the boys have said to me is just play my game and do my basics.

"I'm not Andre and Andre's not me so I try and put my game on the field, do my basics well and go from there."

Director of rugby Tabai Matson was proud of his team for continuing to step up to the mark against a tough team but confirmed that there were too many errors for his liking.

With Saracens on the horizon, Matson knows that the key to revenge is eliminating those errors.

"We were on the ropes at times, but we created enough opportunities in the game,” he said.

"It will be the 31 points that we’ve conceded today that we will be our focus on Monday.

"[Newcastle] punished us when we made errors , so you have to give them credit for that.

“One of the things I love coaching this team is that they are just so positive. They want to go to a scrum or to go for a lineout to score a try instead of taking the easier option.

"It’s one of those things that in the game, Newcastle were getting on top of us, but we did well to hit back and adapt to the opposition and the referee."
