Thomas Frank was full of praise for Brentford as they extended their unbeaten run to seven games after they beat QPR 2-1.

Goals from Vitaly Janelt and Ivan Toney ensured the Bees claimed their sixth straight home derby win against their West London rivals.

Janelt put Brentford ahead in the 12th minute and Lyndon Dykes equalised soon after but in-form Toney secured the winner.

But with such a congested fixture schedule, Frank dedicated the win to their supporters and knows the importance of being able to grind out a result.

“This was for the fans and I really hope they enjoyed this win,” Frank said.

“It was a big win. I think last year when we played QPR twice we got two beautiful wins. Tonight, was one of these wins where you need to dig in and work really hard.

“What an attitude, togetherness and hard work the boys showed out there for 95 minutes – unbelievable.

“In a season where you’re playing 46 games in seven months you need wins like this to go forward and this is impressive.

“It’s really good that we nick these tight wins and why we need to work unbelievably hard.

“There will only be ten top performing games on the ball and there will be a lot of games like this where you’re back and forth.

“I spoke to the players before and I said you need to work like beasts for the fans because this is the biggest game of the year so far and they did.”

The result leaves Brentford seventh in the table, on 23 points and just one point outside the play-off positions.

Toney netted his 12th goal of the season, after latching onto Emiliano Marcondes’ cross, which put him level with Blackburn’s Adam Armstrong as the Championship’s top scorer.

After scoring the decider in his first West London derby, Toney believes his side showed greater character and desire.

“I’m new to it but I know how much it meant to fans and everyone involved in the club,” Toney said.

“It’s a big three points and hopefully we can kick on from now. You’ve seen the desire right to the 90th minute, we showed a greater resilience and the boys wanted it so much and we got what we deserved.

“The goals are the easy part, I think everyone around me is playing a big part for me to get them and as long as it keeps helping the team, I’m buzzing with that.

“We’ve had a tough run in November as well, every game is tough in this division and we’ve got to take every game as it comes.

“I back this team highly and we can win any game if we go in with the right frame of mind and we go in with what we’re used to doing.”
