Conceding an equaliser in the 90th minute against Charlton Athletic was tough to take, acknowledged QPR boss Mark Warburton.

The R’s led twice in the match, first through Geoff Cameron in the sixth minute only for Lyle Taylor to level just after the break.

Marc Pugh put Rangers in front once again but Mouhamadou-Naby Sarr broke QPR’s hearts when he equalised in the closing stages.

QPR had the better of the possession and shots on target but couldn’t make them count when it mattered which left Warburton frustrated.

“With ten seconds to go and to concede a sloppy goal, it’s a tough one to take but throughout the match we created enough chances to seal the victory, but we didn’t take them,” Warburton said.

“Goals change games, they release the pressure. We were in control for long periods of the match and we didn’t get our rewards because we didn’t take our chances, so we must be more clinical.

“In the final five minutes I thought we managed it well, but we didn’t do the basics well enough to get the three points.”

Despite dropping two points, QPR have still come away with eight points from the last five Championship games.

They sit 14th in the table and Warburton believes there were positive signs throughout the 2-2 draw even though came unstuck in the final period.

Warburton added: “There is a lot to be positive about. Charlton are scrapping at the low end of the table.

“There is no doubt about the quality, and we were in control, we should’ve been out of sight and we need to recognise it and reflect on what we can do better.”
