Brentford boss Thomas Frank was impressed with his side’s ‘outstanding’ performance in the first half against West Brom.

The Bees went ahead in the 43rd minute thanks to Henrik Dalsgaard but the Baggies equalised just before the break through Darnell Furlong.

Despite having to settle for a one point, Frank was optimistic about the way in which his team asserted themselves on the pitch and were not afraid to show their personality.

“I think we put a top performance out, especially in the first half we were outstanding,” Frank said.

“The way we went out there with big personality, we wanted to dominate this game and the way we wanted to play impressed me so much.

“The way we were pressing them, closing them down, dominating on the ball, creating chances and then to go up 1-0.

“It’s a little bit frustrating that they maybe have one shot on target in the first half and that’s the goal they score but that’s football and that’s why West Brom are top of the table.

“Second half we stayed in there, in the tough spells, we defended well and hung in there.

“We got through it then we got on top of the game and we could maybe create opportunities, but we didn’t have that extra margin that little bit of top quality that we need to get three points.”

Seven points from their last three Championship games has seen Brentford maintain their playoff push and they now sit sixth in the table.

It’s a busy festive period for the Bees, as they host Swansea City and travel to Millwall and Bristol City.

Frank believes the side have gained some momentum and the fact they were disappointed with a draw against West Brom shows they have the right attitude.

“They’re growing massively as a group. You could see at half-time they were a little bit frustrated,” Frank added.

“But talking to the coaching staff we said to ‘stay positive, that was a top performance, get that goal out of your head and go on again’.

“After the game, people thought it should have been three points and that’s a top feeling. They just keep growing and we need to keep building going forward.”
