Consistent away form has been somewhat of a struggle for Brentford in recent years, but Thomas Frank looks to have set that straight now.

The Bees boss guided his side to a third straight win on the road for the first time since April 2016 with a 3-0 victory over Wigan and was thrilled with the dominant performance at the DW Stadium.

Bryan Mbueno headed in a Christian Norgard corner with just five minutes on the clock and promptly starved Wigan of opportunities to equalise.

Kamohelo Mokotjo then made it 2-0 midway through the second half and Josh Dasilva sealed all three points with the goal of the game – a curled effort into the top corner.

"It was another strong away performance from us, and it's very pleasing to be reflecting on a 3-0 victory," said Frank.

“Wigan are a very difficult team to play against, especially here at home, and we controlled the game very well.

"We didn't give them a single chance throughout the game and scored some very good goals of our own.

"We came here with a strong attitude – in that we respected our opponents, but at the same time we played with confidence.

"We put a lot of hard work into pressing forward in every single situation, and that high pressure was key in the performance.”

The Bees were helped by the fact Cedric Kipre was sent off after picking up a second yellow card 73 minutes in, but Brentford had a man of their own see red when Julian Jeanvier was given his marching orders in added time for his part in a scuffle.

And Frank was pleased to see that his side were able to win with their backs against the wall, especially considering the fact that they were missing a certain someone up front.

"It's very important we're scoring many goals as well as winning games,” he added.

"And of course, we've managed to win 3-0 without our top scorer, Ollie Watkins, getting on the scoresheet.

"That's four wins in five now, and that's very pleasing."
