Teach First, an education charity with a mission to build a fair education for all, is encouraging youngsters to get on their bike and ride the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 46.

Pupils from some of Teach First’s partner schools, alongside their teachers, will take to the streets of the capital on 4 August to brave a 46-mile bike ride – an experience that, for some, will be their first major ride on two wheels.

Committed to driving social change through its PruGOals programme, Prudential encourages people from all backgrounds to take up next week’s RideLondon challenge.

Teach First were just one of the groups represented at the training ride, which saw cyclists start at the Lee Valley White Water Centre and loop through Little Berkhamsted for a brief break before heading back.

And the significance of what’s to come is certainly not lost on those behind the scenes, knowing just how important this experience will be on youngsters across the country.

Russell Hobby, CEO of Teach First said: “We’re delighted to be celebrating our fourth year of working alongside PruGOals to help unlock the potential in all young people. The experience is a fantastic adventure for children - one which is invaluable for their confidence and wellbeing.

“For most young people, riding 46 miles would be a daunting task. But thanks to the support of their teachers, Prudential and their volunteers, they’ve been able get out of their comfort zone and achieve something they’d not normally get the chance to do.”

Prudential’s ‘PruGOals’ campaign aims to inspire young people to take on challenges and achieve their goals. The programme helps to prepare young people for the next step in their life, whether university or the world of work.

As title partner to RideLondon, the world’s greatest festival of cycling, Prudential is working with its chosen charities to empower young people to achieve their goals.
