TWO volunteers from West Ealing, Asha and Ali Zaman, were winners of the Rising Star Award at the FA and McDonald’s Grassroots Football Awards at Wembley on Sunday.
The awards, now in their 10th year, recognise those who dedicate their time to the grassroots game.
Asha Mohamud and Ali Zaman are at university and, despite their studies, working part-time and looking after siblings, they found the time to create Really Real, a coaching initiative for children from the estate where they grew up.

Asha and Ali raise funds to provide transport, food, water and equipment for children who attend. The inspiring pair are working to make a difference to the lives of others through football.
Asha and Ali accepted their award from Gareth Barry ahead of the FA Community Shield. During the half-time break, they joined World Cup hero Sir Geoff Hurst on the pitch in front of 77,000 fans.
“Asha and Ali should be extremely proud of their work, and grassroots football in West Ealing is a much better place with them as part of it,” said McDonald’s ambassador Sir Geoff.
