Thomas Frank compared Brentford’s first-half performance against Swansea to watching a horror movie after seeing his side go 3-0 down within half an hour.

In fact, Brentford were behind after just 25 seconds when Wayne Routledge opened the scoring for Swansea.

The alarm bells will have been ringing out loud as Graham Potter’s side scored with each of their next two shots on target first through a Chris Mepham own goal and then a Leroy Fer finish.

However, the Bees clawed their way back into the game in the second half as it finished 3-2.

"We were 3-0 down after just three shots on target and you just think, 'this can't be happening'. It was like a horror movie and it got more and more scary,” said Frank.

"We took some momentum from the draw at West Brom, but then we went and made a mistake inside the first minute.”

Brentford were behind when Barrie MacKay robbed the ball from Ezri Konsa before squaring for Routledge to bundle home from close range.

Swansea made it two midway through the half when Nathan Dyer cut the home defence to ribbons and crossed but Brentford centre-back Mepham could only watch as the ball bounced off him and into the net.

And it was three just before the half-hour mark after Ollie McBurnie's failed bicycle kick dropped kindly for Fer who finished calmly.

Ollie Watkins and Said Benrahma goals gave the Bees some hope in the second half and prompted Frank to suggest his side might have deserved a draw out of the game.

"We showed fine character to get back into the game and you could say we deserved a point on the basis of our second-half performance,” Frank said.

"It's not good that we keep putting ourselves in these situations over and over again.

"Our defending's a concern and something we've been looking at for quite a while now.

"Football is complex, a mixture of things like momentum, form, relationships, confidence and skills. We don't have the right recipe at this moment in time."
