Judd Trump held his nerve admirably as he ended a 13-month wait for a title by beating Ronnie O’Sullivan 9-7 in the Northern Ireland Open.
Leading 8-7, Trump compiled a 79 break in the 16th frame to end the challenge of the Rocket and seal a maiden win in the Waterfront Hall in Belfast.
After playing well all week, the young Bristolian answered his critics in the most comprehensive fashion as he fought off the efforts of five-time World Champion O’Sullivan in a memorable clash to proudly lift aloft the Alex Higgins Trophy.
