Welsh athlete Olivia Breen brilliantly upgraded sprint silver to T38 long jump gold at the Commonwealth Games.
Breen, the 2020 Paralympic bronze medallist, won the event on the Gold Coast eight years ago and her effort of 5.09 metres was just enough to hold off Australia's Layla Sharp.
She admitted some frustration with her 100m silver, losing out by just seven hundredths of a second to England's Sophie Hahn, but was all smiles after her final event at Scotstoun.
"I just can't express it," said Breen, one of the many athletes in Glasgow to benefit from crucial National Lottery funding.
"I'm over the moon and it's going to take a while to sink in. I can't quite believe it. To do it on home soil and to do it as captain of Wales just means so much.
"Competing for Wales is so special. It's like a family. Everyone is so inclusive and supportive. Everyone is so lovely and I just love competing for Wales. Nothing ever beats this.
"I've been lucky to win medals at the Paralympics, Worlds and Europeans but that's five Commonwealth medals now and they are right at the top of my achievements."
Breen, 30, admitted that it wasn't just training that was rewarded in Glasgow but her extensive work with her sport psychologist on the mental side of her athletics.
"I started with a really big jump and that's something I've been working on with my coach, laying down a solid marker and then building from there," she added.
"It changes your mindset when you bank a good jump early, the pressure just comes off. I just kept telling myself that anything could happen. I just had to stay composed and stay focused. I kept going back to my process and reminding myself to trust myself and trust the work I'd done.
