GUNNERSBURY Park & Museum will celebrate 100 years of public ownership in 2026 and is planning a year of events, exhibitions and activities.
To prepare for centenary activities, Gunnersbury will close the museum from January 5 to February 3 for refurbishment and conservation work.
During that time, the park will remain fully open and free to the public. Visitors will also be welcomed at a new park cafe, Pure in the Park, from January 5.
Gunnersbury’s centenary programme will reflect the rich history of the park and its role in the community.
Planned activities include a community fete on May 25 and the park’s first-ever Family Dog Show on June 21.
At the heart of the celebrations, the museum will present a new exhibition exploring 100 years of the park’s history, shining a light on the people who have shaped it.
Head of Museum Services Corinne Wan said: “Visitors to the exhibition will be taken on a journey through the park’s history.
“Through photographs, archival materials and voices from the past, the exhibition brings to life the people who have cared for the park and explores why public parks continue to matter so deeply to us today.”
