THE streets were alive as almost 4,500 runners and thousands of spectators celebrated this year’s Ealing Half Marathon.
Renowned for its scenic course and outstanding support, the race once again lived up to its reputation as one of the country’s most popular running events. Running conditions were close to perfect.
In the elite races, Joe Wigfield of Team Morespace stormed to victory in the men’s category with a time of 1:06:40, while Alice Braham of Ealing Eagles Running Club delighted the home crowd with another commanding win in the women’s race, crossing the line in 1:17:28.
The day, of course, was not just about the front runners. Entrants of all abilities – from first-time runners and charity fund-raisers to seasoned club athletes – took on the 13.1-mile challenge, cheered on by thousands lining the route.
Together, runners raised more than £100,000 for local and national charities, including event partners Macmillan Cancer Support, Meadow House Hospice and Shooting Star Children’s Hospice.
“This race belongs to Ealing,” said Sandra Courtney, race director. “The runners were incredible, but what makes this event so special is the way our residents, volunteers and partners come together year after year.
“The energy along the route was phenomenal and we’re so proud of everyone who played a part in making today such a success.”
The weekend also was featured the Ealing Mini Mile, giving young athletes their chance to shine, while Walpole Park transformed into a buzzing race village with live music, food stalls and entertainment.
Organisers have already turned their attention to next year, with registration for the 2026 Ealing Half Marathon, on September 27, opening tomorrow (Monday 29) at 1pm.
