A FAMILIAR showbiz figure from Ealing has teamed up with fellow film and TV stars to front a modern slavery campaign.
Stand-up comedian and After Life star Kerry Godliman, who hails from Perivale, is working with the charity Causeway in its Stand With Survivors campaign.
Modern slavery cases across London have been increasing to the point last year when it had nearly four times as many victims as any other region in England and Wales.
Comedian Kerry, 50, is known for her roles as Lisa Johnson in Netflix’s After Life, Sonya Reeves in ITV’s Trigger Point, care home manager Hannah in Channel 4’s Derek and Pearl Nolan in Acorn TV’s Whitstable Pearl.
The campaign aims to increase awareness around modern slavery and educate the public about the signs to look out for.
Kerry said: “I was horrified to learn just how prevalent modern slavery is. These are people just like me and you - people who deserve the same dignity, freedom and care.”
Edwin Buckley, of Causeway, said: “We are so grateful to have Kerry joining our star-studded line-up to front the campaign.”
