DEMENTIA-friendly opera comes to Ealing next month – and it’s free to watch.
The University of West London will be the venue for a production by the Music Troupe, the London College of Music and the Geller Institute of Ageing and Memory on September 6.
It builds on a successful similar event last year, promoting the social connections that have been proven to improve quality of life for older people and reducing the risk of dementia itself.
It comprises two short chamber pieces, presented in their full form, as they will be later in the year in theatres.
This is part of the vision of The Music Troupe, who wish to expand opera from well-worn theatre venues to find new audiences in smaller, more intimate spaces.
The performance is open to all and will be shown as it would be to any audience.
Unique to this performance, the venue will be staffed by professionals experienced in working with people living with dementia, alongside first aiders and trained volunteers.
September 6, Lawrence Hall, St Mary’s Road, Ealing, 3-4.30pm (doors open 2.30). Reserve tickets here
