David Beckham may not have kicked a ball in professional sport for over a decade but the former England captain’s star power remains undimmed.

A new poll has shown the football icon is top of fans’ lists when it comes to sporting legends they would like to spend time with, with 21 per cent of respondents selecting the 48-year-old as their top choice to have a pint with.

‘Golden Balls’ edged out Marcus Rashford and Tyson Fury (both 18 per cent), and Jack Grealish (16 per cent), in the poll conducted by sports travel company Sportsbreaks.com.

Beckham also led the way when it came to sports stars fans would love to spend a six-week cruise with, receiving 17 per cent of the vote – five per cent clear of Grealish, 2021 US Open winner Emma Raducanu and Beckham’s successor in Manchester United’s famous number seven shirt, Cristiano Ronaldo.

However, Becks, who now owns Inter Miami, didn’t make the cut when it came to sports stars that fans would want in their pub quiz teams.

Cricket legend Ian Botham (14 per cent) topped that particular list, closely followed by two-time Wimbledon winner Andy Murray and England’s all-time record goalscorer Harry Kane (13 per cent), along with seven-time F1 world champion Lewis Hamilton and United striker Rashford (12 per cent).

Rashford (13 per cent) edged out Beckham (12 per cent) when respondents were asked which sports star they would be happy to see date their child.
