HOSPITAL staff are encouraging people to sign up for organ donation cards this week in a drive to increase the number of donors.
A team visited Ealing, Northwick Park and Central Middlesex hospitals drumming up support as part of Organ Donation Week.
Demand always outstrips supply, with more than 7,000 people currently awaiting transplants for organs, including the heart, liver, lungs and pancreas, across the UK.
One organ donor has the potential to save eight lives.
Some of the myths around donation include you not having to be in perfect health to donate, recipients not having to be the same age as donors and the identity of donors remaining confidential.
