VOLUNTEERS from the Ealing, Hammersmith & Hounslow branch of Samaritans were out in force this morning (16) at Ealing Broadway station to help commuters cope with Blue Monday.
With the dark mornings, the festive season over and the credit card bills coming in, the third Monday in January is reckoned to be the saddest day of the year.
Heena Johnson, branch director, said: “Let’s bin the blues! We’re making this ‘Brew Monday’ to encourage friends and family to stay connected by having a cuppa and a catch-up.”
The volunteer team handed out free tea bags and helpful leaflets.
Heena added: “People can feel low at any point in the day, week or year and we want them to know they are never alone.
“Check in with people who you care about for a cuppa and a chat, as talking really can save lives.
“Our volunteers are available around the clock, to listen to anyone who needs support this Blue Monday and every other day of the month and year, 24/7.”
