Charities and community groups from across the UK have benefited from a vital injection of one million freshly-baked food products throughout the last year.

The landmark figure was brought up at a local Bolton school this week to help cap a bumper few months of donations across all corners of the country.

And there’s even more to come, with the latest milestone marking just another step towards the target of donating 1.25 million products by October 2023.

Ealing Times:

The ambition was set by the Warburtons Foundation, which supports families across the UK through community hubs like schools and food banks.

Jonathan Warburton, chairman of Britain’s largest bakery brand, visited Church Road Primary School to celebrate the occasion and admits that supporting local communities has never been more important.

He said: “Our family business has been supporting local communities since we began and it remains incredibly important to us to this day.

“I am really pleased we reached our commitment to donating one million products this year, it’s been a delight to visit today to meet some of the children our donations go towards supporting.

“Things are difficult for so many families at the moment and we recognise how vital it is that we continue to listen and act so that we can help play our part in supporting families across the country as best we can.

Ealing Times:

“We look forward to helping out the community in the years to come and meet our next target of 1.25 million donations in the next 12 months.”

The family-run business has supported charities and those in need since 1876 and set itself the donation target of 1.25 million products by October 2023.

The Foundation also supports local charities and community projects across the UK via its grants fund, donating more than £260k this year alone.

Mrs Deborah Docherty, Headteacher at Church Road Primary School, added: “It’s extremely important for us that children attending school aren’t hungry and the donations we receive from The Warburtons Foundation help us provide our pupils with the best start to the day.

“The donation today will not only support our children in school but provide them with something to take home as we know that there are many families for whom a loaf of bread is a great help right now.”
