Assistant manager Bill Walton is seeking inspiration from Emirates FA Cup upsets of the past after Beckenham Town drew Vanarama National League side Dagenham & Redbridge in Fourth Round Qualifying.

The Becks reached this stage for the first time after beating Binfield 5-3 at Eden Park Avenue.

They have already caused one cup upset this season, a 2-1 win away at Vanarama National League South promotion-chasers Dartford in the Second Round Qualifying.

And with a place in the First Round Proper on the line, Walton is hoping his side can emulate Hereford United's famous 2-1 win over Newcastle United in 1972.

He said: "Listen, we are massive underdogs again, but if we apply ourselves, it could be a case of Hereford against Newcastle United.

"Ronnie Radford scored the greatest goal I think I have ever seen in FA Cup history, so it could be one of them.

"Let's hope we play well and give them a really good game.

"I'm excited, in my time I played against Dagenham & Redbridge a few times and had some really good games against them.

"I know they have moved on since then, but it is a fantastic draw for us. We are at home, and we are undefeated at home this season.

"I think they are full-time at Dagenham, so maybe coming down to Beckenham will be a bit of a shock to the system and throw them off on the day.

"Home advantage is going to be massive for us, and I am sure we are going to get a huge crowd so everyone in Beckenham should come down to support us.

Ealing Times:

Beckenham Town are one step away from greatness with a crunch clash with Dagenham & Redbridge to come on Saturday

"It is going to be a great occasion; the club has never seen anything like this in its entire existence."

Newly promoted Beckenham Town are competing in the Pitching In Isthmian South East for the first time ever this season.

And with the Becks on a history-making upward trajectory, Walton is daring to dream of drawing boyhood club West Ham United in a later round.

He added: "The last three years have been exceptional for us, we are riding the crest of a wave at the moment.

"This is really the icing on the cake, to play this game, and what a game to be involved in.

"You never know, if we win and get into the first round proper it will be remarkable, and then who knows who you can draw.

"I said to one of the guys on Saturday my dream is to play West Ham once they enter the draw."
