TALENTED Ealing pupil, Matilda McDonald auditioned for and was successfully cast as the young Tosca in the English National Opera’s production by Puccini.
The Year 8 pupil at St Augustine's Priory, an independent Catholic girls’ school, performs a solo in the final act.
Tosca’, which opens the ENO’s 2022-23 season, tells the tragic tale of opera singer Floria Tosca as she struggles to save the life of her lover.
Her singing teacher at the school, Elena Ferrari, said: “Matilda has one of the best young soprano voices I have heard.”
A member of the chamber choir at St Augustine’s, Matilda is appearing in all performances of the ENO production, which runs until November 4.
