FATAL crashes at Northolt and Southall were among a series of critical incidents that made it a demanding time for traffic police in London yesterday (17) and today.

Four people died and a fifth person was critically injured within 24 hours across the capital.

Other fatal collisions in Cricklewood and Chadwell Heath led to a death toll two pedestrians and two motor cyclists. Another rider was critically injured in Bromley.

Chief Inspector Lora John said: “The overall picture is disturbing and tragic. My thoughts are with the families of those who have lost their lives.

“In two of the incidents, drivers did not remain at the scene.

“Days like these are challenging and upsetting, demonstrating clearly how much needs to be done by all of us to stop this needless loss of life.”

In Mandeville Road, Northolt, on Friday at 7.45pm, a bus was in collision with a 16-year-old boy, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Anyone with dashcam footage and any witnesses who are yet to speak with police are asked to call 020 8246 9820, ref 6587/17dec.

In West Avenue, Southall, near the junction with Carlyle Avenue, at 1.55am today (18), police found a 41-year-old man dead after apparently being struck by a vehicle, which did not stop.

Again, anyone with information or who may have dashcam footage is asked to call police on 101, ref 7301/17dec.
