A GREENFORD man who posed as a taxi driver before kidnapping a woman in central London is starting a nine-year jail sentence.

Isaac Mabwa, 33, of Melville Avenue, was sentenced at Wood Green Crown Court yesterday (29). He was also placed on the sex offenders’ register for life.

He was previously found guilty of kidnap, false imprisonment and committing an offence with intent to comment a sexual offence.

Mabwa was driving a hire car through central London in May 2017 when he came across a woman walking along Euston Road. He stopped and offered the woman a lift home.

Believing it was a taxi or minicab, the 25-year-old victim got into the car but quickly realised something was wrong when Mabwa began driving in the opposite direction from her home.

She tried to get out of the vehicle several times, but Mabwa stopped her. However, she was able to message her boyfriend and a friend and also sent them her location.

Mabwa stopped at an unlit car park and the victim began to scream. The screams were heard by a member of the public and she was able to escape from the car.
