FORMER Arsenal and England legend Paul Merson gave players at North Greenford United a lift in an exclusive training session at their Berkeley Fields ground.
North Greenford won the training session through a competition run by decorating and DIY specialist Leyland SDM.
It was part of Leyland SDM’s Give London A Lift campaign, with support for community groups and charities in London.
Leyland SDM has a store at 312-316 Ruislip Road East, Greenford.
Merson, now a Sky Sports pundit, said: “It was a privilege to play a practice game alongside them and offer them some advice from my experience.”
North Greenford, who play in the Combined Counties League, will also receive a new kit as part of the Leyland SDM competition.
Paul Mills, team manager, said of Merson: “He might be 53, but he can certainly still pass a ball!”
Groups can apply to Give London A Lift, to help open new premises, upgrade an existing building or any project which benefits the community.
