AN Ealing initiative to energise the borough’s high streets is among the winners of the Mayor of London’s Resilience Fund.
The fund is a £1m innovation programme, to help businesses and community groups emerge stronger from COVID-19.
Activating High Streets was one of a number of challenges he set. It also involved Ealing Council, the Ealing High Streets Taskforce and West London Business.
The winning solution, Sqwyre by Whythawk, is a commercial location database, offering support to the borough’s 3,000-plus creative enterprises while addressing the problem of vacant premises.
Sadiq Khan said: “The pandemic has been the most challenging period in our great city’s history since World War Two.
“Today, London is home to some of the most brilliant innovators in the world, which is why I set a series of challenges directly to them help build our city back better.”
He worked with Nesta Challenges on the project.
