MORE than 150 volunteers from the Friends of Grand Union Canal will this Saturday (24) be clearing rubbish along the 12 miles of the Paddington Arm (Little Venice to Bulls Bridge, Southall).
The event is to mark the 220th anniversary of the canal arm opening.
David Posnett, of the Friends, said: “Since I conceived the idea back in November 2020, we have managed to clear tons of rubbish.
“In fact this litter pick is more like a walk with some litter picking. This, in itself, is great news, with very little litter being dropped along several miles of canal.
“Alperton, however, is always a challenge and volunteers clear there twice a week.”
