Leisure centres in Ealing are offering free access to servicepeople this weekend in celebration of Armed Forces Day on Saturday.

Everyone Active, who operate 200 centres nationwide, is offering access for all active servicepeople and veterans to the gyms and public swimming sessions at its Ealing centres to mark Armed Forces Week this week.

There are currently nearly 200,000 active service personnel in the UK as well as an estimated two and a half million veterans, and Armed Forces Day is an opportunity for people across the nation to show their support for them.

Phil Edwards, Everyone Active’s contract manager, said: “We’re determined to support the people in our local community, including service men and women.

“This initiative helps us to show our appreciation for the work they do. Whether it’s a workout in the gym, a few leisurely lengths of the pool or spending quality times with their loved ones during our family fun swims, we hope they are able to take advantage of the wealth of activities we offer.”

The centres offering free access are Everyone Active Acton Centre, Greenford Sports Centre, Reynolds Sports Centre, Twyford Sports Centre, Dormers Wells Leisure Centre, Northolt Leisure Centre, Southall Sports Centre and Brent Valley Golf Course and Fitness Centre.

All Armed Forces personnel will be required to present proof of service at their chosen Everyone Active centre.

They will also need to fill in the necessary Health & Safety forms and watch the online induction before being granted free access.
