YOUNG people from schools and colleges in Ealing received their Jack Petchey Foundation Achievement Awards at a live digital event.

Winners received medallions and framed certificates, along with a £250 grant for them to spend to benefit their school or youth group.

Achievement Award winners include Mustafa Abdor Rahlmzy, 15, who attends Dormers Wells High School.

Mustafa’s teacher saw him helping an old man across the road on the way home from school. Mustafa had stopped the traffic and supported the man to his front door.

It is one example of many in the past year when Mustafa has gone out of his way to help others.

He has also supported a new student who joined the school with no English language. Mustafa has been translating for him, helping him try to make friends and supported his transition into an English secondary school.

He has decided to spend his £250 grant on equipment for the school.

Sir Jack started the Petchey Foundation in 1999 to recognise the positive contributions young people make to society.

Since then, it has supported more than 2,000 initiatives and has invested £133m.

The Foundation has provided £798,000 in funding to schools and youth clubs in Ealing.
