A cinema that will specialise in showing classic movies is due to open to the public in Aylesbury next month.

Funky Cinema, which will be based at the Walton Parish Hall within the town, will officially open its doors on Saturday, June 5 – just 16 days before stage four restrictions across the country are lifted.

The latest attraction to the town will broadcast numerous movies such as, ‘How to Train Your Dragon, (2010), ‘When Harry Met Sally…’ (1989), and ‘Mad Max’ (1979), to name just a few.

In a brief statement on their website, Funky Cinema said: “Seating is socially distanced.

"Masks must be worn for entry, but can be removed to eat and drink during the film.

“Hand sanitiser is provided.

"If you queue outside, please maintain social distancing.

“Please do not enter the venue if you have Covid symptoms.”

The cinema has also revealed that moviegoers will be able to bring their own alcohol for some of their screenings.

They continued: “We show funky films for all ages at a budget price.

“No frills, just thrills.

“Enjoy a different kind of cinema experience without breaking the piggy bank.

Tickets cost £4.50 (which includes an online booking fee), whilst for children, seniors and students, tickets are £3.50.

The cinema is also disability-friendly and the screen is 12.5ft tall.
