More than £1,000 has been raised for a primary school following a successful scarecrow trail in a village near Aylesbury.
Over the recent Bank Holiday Weekend (May 1 – May 3), 38 scarecrows were seen in the village of Wingrave with the fundraiser’s theme being the 1980s.
This meant the village was flooded with scarecrows that focused on the Smurfs, Super Ted, ET, Annie Lennox, Madonna, Star Wars and Ghostbusters.

All the money raised was donated to Wingrave CE School PTFA, with the event being sponsored by Wingrave Village Shop, Wingrave with Rowsham Parish Council, and Hunters Estate Agents
One of the organisers said: “What a weekend we had!
“The quality of the scarecrows was amazing.
"Everyone had a lovely time admiring the scarecrows.
“The weather even held for us.”

Maps for the trail cost £2 and were able to be picked up from the village shop, and those who purchased the item had an opportunity to vote for their favourite scarecrow and as well as winning a £20 Amazon voucher.
And following the counts, it was revealed that the A Nice Day For A White Wedding scarecrow came in first place, ET was second whilst Annie Lennox came in third.
Overall, more than £1,350 was raised for the school, and next year’s event will take place between April 30 to May 2, which will focus on a Disney theme.
