A man will stand trial accused of murdering High Wycombe student Libby Squire tomorrow.

Pawel Relowicz, 26, is due to appear at Sheffield Crown Court on Tuesday, January 12, charged with the rape and murder of the 21-year-old student in Hull.

Miss Squire disappeared near her home in the East Yorkshire city where she was studying philosophy, in the early hours of February 1, 2019, after a night out.

She had reportedly been turned away from the Welly nightclub before she went missing.

What followed was an intensive search lasting more than a month involving hundreds of uniformed police officers, search specialists, dog-handlers and police divers - but her body was tragically discovered in the Humber Estuary on March 20.

Her devastated family, who live just outside West Wycombe, were finally able to lay the much-loved student to rest at her funeral in St Lawrence's Church on October 3, 2019.

Relowicz's trial is scheduled to start at 10.30am on Tuesday and could last up to four weeks.

He was originally due to stand trial in June last year but it was delayed due to the Covid-19 crisis.
