RAF Northolt helped raise £50,000 for the service’s benevolent fund during this year’s 50th anniversary of the Beaujolais Run.

Usually, the run involves people driving across Europe with wine, attempting to be the quickest back to the UK while raising money for charity.

This year, it coincided with the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Britain, but, due to the pandemic, had to be online.

Gp Capt Nick Worrall, Station Commander, said: “The RAF Benevolent Fund has met the challenge of COVID-19 head on, providing stations with grants to support young people who were isolated when schools closed during lockdown.”

During the pandemic, the fund made £2,500 available for children at each station and Northolt had its play park refurbished.
