EALING is among the London boroughs aiming to take part in a trial of rented e-scooters in the capital.
The aim is to promote safety standards and understand better the impact of an emerging mode of transport.
A competition has been launched among e-scooter operators and up to three will be selected to take part in the 12-month trial, due to start in the Spring.
The use of privately owned e-scooters on public roads remains illegal.
Around one-third of London boroughs have expressed an intention to join the trial initially, with more considering joining at a later stage.
Boroughs will control parking locations for e-scooters, to protect against street clutter and will be able to designate certain areas as ‘no-go’ or ‘go-slow areas’.
