Hollies Tennis Club has been in action once again, this time hosting their Junior Under-14s Championship.

The Tarporley Road club held the competition on Saturday, October 17, with the youngsters having been playing and having their coaching since out door sport returned following lockdown.

With Covid-19 precautions in place and with limited spectators the youngsters played 16 games each with the final match between Jacob Elliot and Owen Shrimplin.

The standard was very high all afternoon and it was Owen who lifted the boys trophy with Maddie Connor taking the girls trophy.

Owen and Maddie now join the elite champions of the club alongside ladies champion Hannah Jones Ladies champion and men's champion Harrison Gwit.

Yvonne Shrimplin from the club says the tournament highlights the importance of outdoor exercise during the Covid-19 pandemic.

"The club has thrived during the Pandemic with more and more people realising that tennis is for the all the family and can be enjoyed at an level and wonderful way to exercise together in the fresh air," she said.

"Coaching is offered to all members, all the year round, during the week, after school and at weekends for both Juniors and seniors.

"Any one interest in joining the club, can get a reduced winter membership.
