THE campaign group Save British Farming held demonstrations outside Welshpool livestock market and the Conservative Montgomeryshire constituency office this week.
The action on Monday followed a weekend of action in Wales with rallies and tractor protests, and a further protest is planned for outside parliament on Monday.
The action is intended to force MPs to back an amendment to the Agriculture Bill which would enshrine current environmental and animal welfare standards in law.
Local spokesman for the group Steve Boyd said: “The UK has now left the EU and the transition period ends on December 31.
“British farming is facing its biggest upheaval in generations and Welsh agriculture will be particularly hard hit if there is a no deal Brexit.
“We are campaigning against any lowering of our high food production standards when we do trade deals with countries which have lower standards than our own.”
Local MPs Craig Williams and Fay Jones voted against the amendment when the bill was at an earlier reading.
"The bill returns to the Commons from the Lords next on Monday, September 28, so this may be our last chance to get it amended," Mr Boyd added.
"We urge farmers and everyone who is concerned about the quality of our food and the preservation of our rural communities to contact their MP and join our campaign, banners can be ordered from our website."
