DETECTIVES are appealing for information and witnesses after a woman was sexually assaulted and beaten by a stranger in Acton.
Police were called at 10.47pm yesterday (17) to Brouncker Road following reports of an assault in progress.
They searched the area with the assistance of a helicopter.
The victim, in her 40s, is being supported by trained officers.
Det Sgt David Baldwin said: “We believe the victim was attacked by a stranger and we are conducting extensive enquiries to track this man down.”
Chief Supt Peter Gardner said: “This is a horrific and cowardly attack and my thoughts are with the victim who has gone through a terrifying ordeal.”
