THE GOVERNMENT has announced £2m of funding for a Cumbrian NHS trust to eliminate paper prescriptions.
Conservative minister Nadine Norris confirmed on Thursday the money for the North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust, that run hospitals in north and west Cumbria to introduce e-prescriptions technology.
The money is part of a £8.7m package for seven NHS trusts across the country - it has previously been rolled out to 130 NHS trusts.
The e-prescription technology allows the digital access of patient history - and the Government claims can it reduce errors by 30 per cent.
Nadine Dorries, minister for patient safety, said: "I'm pleased to announce the trusts receiving a share of the money to help eliminate paper prescriptions.
"This will not only help reduce potentially deadly medication errors but save our hardworking staff valuable time.
