Wizz Air is planning to launch new flights from London to Sicily, with fares starting from £17.99 each way.

The budget carrier will be offering a new route from London Luton to Catania, with flights set to take off from October 22.

Fares will start from £17.99.

The route can already be booked on the Wizz Air website.

The new Wizz Air route coincides with the launch of a new base at Catania for the airline.

It also comes as the company announces two new flight routes from Liverpool John Lennon Airport, to Chisinau in Moldova and Cluj-Napoca in Romania.

It's all part of a wider expansion for Wizz Air, which recently announced new bases at London Gatwick and Doncaster Sheffield, to open alongside its existing London Luton base.

The new bases will see heaps more routes being launched in October including Alicante and Malaga in Spain, Larnaca in Cyprus, Faro in Portugal, Lublin in Poland, Kosice in Slovakia and Suceava in Romania.

There are also plans to launch flights to the Canary Islands - Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Tenerife - as well as Lisbon and Eindhoven.
