The opening of St Albans' first budget supermarket has been delayed for another few months.
Aldi was scheduled to open in Griffiths Way, near St Albans Abbey station, this month, but now the launch has been put on hold.
It's understood the impact of COVID-19 and lockdown has delayed construction - but the good news is St Albans will still have an Aldi store in the near future.
A spokesperson for Aldi said: "Construction for our new St Albans store is progressing well as we move towards opening in early 2021.
"This will create up to 40 jobs for the community.”
It means bargain-hunters will have to wait a few more months to try out the new budget store - although Aldi has not given a specific date of when it expects to open its doors for the first time.
For the time being, shoppers can visit Aldi stores in Hemel Hempstead, Watford, Hatfield, or Borehamwood.
Alongside Aldi, a Costa Drive-thru will be opening as well as a B&Q at the new retail park in Griffiths Way.
Constructors MCS Group tweeted in August that "finishing touches" were being applied to the B&Q development.
Finishing touches being applied to this B&Q development in St Albans. Exciting to see the retail project, which includes a Costa and Aldi, at St Albans nearing practical completion. Great work by our team. #construction #retail pic.twitter.com/5DirYk9jxX

The stores have been built on the derelict gasworks formerly owned by National Grid, which lies between The Range and McDonald's.
