Whitchurch enjoyed their first win of the season on Saturday with a six wicket victory over Frankton.

Frankton made a good start as Sam Todd adding 45 before he was caught by Simon Dimelow who took his first of three wickets.

But his success with the bat could not be recreated by any of his teammates as Frankton limped to a total of 151 all out.

In reply, Andy Jones was the star for Whitchurch, hitting 68 not out, helped along the way by Iftikhar Khan (24no).

The result means Whitchurch jump up to fourth in the Shropshire County Cricket League Premier Division Mike Robinson Group table.

On Saturday, they take on Shrewsbury seconds away.

It was another difficult weekend for Wem as they suffered another defeat, this time at the hands of Oswestry who raced to an eight wicket victory.

Wem never really got going until the middle order duo of Martyn Davies (49) and Sam Peate (28) gave their side a boost.

Oswestry were in fine form though when they picked up the bat to chase down the 173 all out target, as Warrick Fynn hit a century, helped by Matthew Richards’ 50no.

Wem currently sit bottom of the Birmingham Cricket League GWT Group 1 table.

On Saturday, Wem travel to Bridgnorth.
