A NEW bid is being made to build a Putt in the Park site at Gunnersbury Park following the expiry of the bowls club’s licence.

Gunnersbury Estate wants to convert the bowling green into a putting site similar to others across the capital, including one at Acton.

While the first planning application was unsuccessful, Gunnersbury and its developer partner will be re-submitting a second with a view to opening in Spring 2021.

A Gunnersbury spokesman said: “We expect this will bring 30,000 visitors annually to the park.

“At a time when Gunnersbury Estate has lost £600k worth of income due to COVID-19 and the fire at the park café, this welcome addition will bring much-needed revenue to help us survive and thrive.”
