THE ROTARY Club of Barrow-in-Furness has appointed a new president.

Rotarian Dave Coverdale has begun his term as the new president after taking over from out-going president Bob Herbert.

Mr Coverdale, a retired firefight, is well established amongst the community.

The club has welcomed Mr Coverdale into his new role after the dedication he has shown.

He has been thanked for being instrumental to the organisations of ‘Zoom’ meetings, and helping members get connected.

Mr Coverdale’s first act in office was to present a Paul Harris Fellow Award to previously president Bob Herbert for his service to Rotary and the community.

Rotary established the recognition award in 1957 to encourage and show appreciation for members who have demonstrated substantial contributions.

He also welcomed returning member Sophie Carnaby, as well as inducting new member Steven Forster.
