A Watford-based company has been giving away hundreds of goods to charities and key workers.

Beko, with an office in Watford Business Park, sells home appliances like dishwashers, cookers, washing machines, and refrigerators, and a core part of the company is giving back to communities.

Beko has been working with charities like Barnardo's and the Salvation Army for years, and the charitable work has been extended during the coronavirus crisis.

Marketing manager at Beko, Shalika Hooda, says 1,700 appliances have been donated to NHS workers and charities and services which support the vulnerable across the country.

This includes NHS Imperial Hospital, ambulance stations in Nottingham, Acorns Children's Hospice, St Mark's Hospital, Signposts, and Aspire Oxford.

Ms Hooda said: "Beko believes strongly that it has a responsibility in giving back to local communities, services and charities to make a positive difference in people’s lives.

"So when the coronavirus crisis hit, Beko wanted to offer a helping hand to the NHS and charities.

"The donations of our products have been received very well. This is a difficult and challenging time for everyone, especially the NHS and the vulnerable.

"Our appliances makes everyday life easier and more comfortable, creating a home from home during these unprecedented times.

"We were offering whatever was required ranging from large home appliances – fridge freezers, washing machines, cookers, dishwasher etc to small appliances such as microwaves, kettles and toasters."
