PLANS to ensure staff and customers are safe before reopening its pubs have been revealed by JD Wetherspoon.

The company has three pubs in Hillingdon, The Botwell Inn in Coldharbour Lane, Hayes, The Tichenham Inn in Swakeleys Road, Ickenham, and JJ Moons in Victoria Road, Ruislip Manor.

In Ealing, they have the Red Lion & Pineapple in Acton High Street, the Sir Michael Balcon in The Mall, Ealing and The Greenwood Hotel in Whitton Avenue West, Greenford.

Pubs will open for their usual hours when Wetherspoons has the go-ahead from the Government.

Social distancing measures will result in the employment of two full-time staff per pub - slightly more for bigger pubs - regularly cleaning surfaces and touch points.

All pubs will have screens at the till point and there will also be screens to create seating areas where it is not possible to separate tables.

There will be an average 10 hand sanitiser dispensers around each pub, including at the entrance for customers and staff to use.

The pubs will use one entrance with a separate exit door where possible.

Customers will be asked to use the Wetherspoon order-and-pay app, wherever possible, or pay at the bar using a credit or debit card and contactless, though cash will be accepted.

The pubs will also offer a slightly-reduced menu and provide sachets (ketchup, mayonnaise, salt and pepper), rather than the usual condiment bottles.

Sarah Clinton, manager at The Botwell Inn, said: “At present, the Government have not confirmed any reopening date for pubs.

“However, it is important we are prepared for any announcement.”
