NHS England has confirmed a further 22 coronavirus patients being cared for by West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust have died.

In its latest update, NHS England confirmed 22 deaths at the trust between April 2 and April 9.

The trust recorded eight deaths on April 6 and six deaths on April 8, according to NHS England.

In total, 84 patients being cared for by the trust have now died.

Meanwhile, NHS England confirmed a further 24 deaths of coronavirus patients being cared for by London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust, which runs Northwick Park and Ealing hospitals.

It brings the total number of deaths at the trust up to 252.

Nationally, NHS England confirmed a further 866 deaths of coronavirus patients across hospitals in the country, bringing the death toll up to 8,114.

Of the 866 new deaths announced today, 117 occurred on April 9 while 720 took place between April 1 and April 8.

The remaining 29 deaths occurred in March, including one on March 5.

The patients were aged between 27 and 100 years old. 

NHS England said in a statement: “A further 866 people, who tested positive for the Coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 8,114.

“Patients were aged between 27 and 100 years old.  56 of the 866 patients (aged between 40 and 93 years old) had no known underlying health condition.  

“Their families have been informed.”
