A further twenty-three coronavirus patient being cared for at London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust have died.

NHS England today confirmed that the new deaths recorded were between last Thursday (April 2) and last Sunday (April 5) at the trust which manages Northwick Park Hospital in Harrow and Ealing Hospital.

The trust's total of 183 deaths is the second highest in the UK, followed by the University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust.

Daily death counts are revised each day, with each case backdated to the actual date of death.

This means some of the deaths that were first recorded in the last 24 hours may actually have taken place days earlier.

NHS England guidance states: "Confirmation of COVID-19 diagnosis, death notification and reporting in central figures can take up to several days and the hospitals providing the data are under significant operational pressure."

Across England a further 758 people have died, taking the number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 5,655.

The patients were aged between 23 years and 102 years old.

But 29 of the patients, aged between 23 and 99, had no known underlying health conditions.

NHS England said in a statement: "A further 758 people, who tested positive for the coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 5,655.
